One Night Only

This post has been delayed in my attempt to make a collage in Photoshop at which I failed miserably. It has been a long week and a good one. Not only did I have been consistent in getting into the office early but I also accomplished a lot of things that need no mentioning in this post.

Though I tried so hard to be always positive, the odds seemed to be against me. While on my way home from a long afternoon in Bacolod, the rain caught up with me and rendered me drenched.

At this time, I cannot recall what I have been busy with which prevented me to get into the bath right away that by the time I was ready for bed, I had this chills, foreboding of a really bleak week ahead.

As expected, I woke up with a bad cold. That was not cool at all. It stayed for days, giving me a hard time especially at nights when I wake up from difficulty of breathing.

* * * * *

As if that wasn't enough, Wednesday dawned muggy with promise of torrential rains. Oh, the pain of the mere thought that everything will not go as expected.

When I arrived in Bacolod and seeing the concrete dry, my faith was restored. The plan was for me to leave my stuff at Casa Mait, meet my hosts, freshen up and have a quick dinner before going to the concert.

I can't fault the welcome I received except for Perrin who subjected me to a rather thorough inspection. He sniffed my legs and barked at me hard. Well, he must have noticed  traces of Tara, Coco, Limbo, Momo, Prince, Shifu, and Cuchi smell on it. When he was done checking, he took this spot next to the stool with a guarded expression as if to say, "Mind yourself. We're not friends yet."

When we came in, Mimi was asleep and both parents were at work. Grace called up their mom and soon, she was home to welcome my imposition. Not long after, the man of the house came home too. His appearance gave me the opportunity to get the aloof Perrin into my favor. I offered to feed him his late lunch from a can of lamb and veal that I brought him as peace offering and hand fed him his first bite. And oh, was that a resounding success. When he was done, he was back where I was and look at us:

Having skipped lunch (it being a Wednesday), my tummy was already clamoring for food. We left Casa Mait 6ish, missed our stop at Margie's (my host and guide was no different from manong in instances like this) and so decided to grab some grub at Business Inn instead. I had something light, some Arroz Caldo and tea while Grace opted to just have some dessert.

We were on our way out of the hotel when Grace caught my attention about a lady sitting at a table calling out my name. I looked back and tried to figure out where I have seen that face before. And when it dawned on me, I got excited at seeing one of my trainees after a long time. From the top of my head I knew that she would be singing but asked her anyways when I went up to her to say "Hi". I was right. She was filling in for their vocalist who was not available that night. I asked for their schedule and promised to get back and see her perform if and when we finish early at the concert (which of course, did not happen)

The queue at UNOR snaked on one side of the amphitheater but the wait was tolerable with the thought of the prize that await  inside. Front act performance started at 830 which included a local band (Dumaguete), a stand up duo (forgot their names), sex bomb girls, abbra and angelica prado (from team kawayan in 'voice phils') which ended at exactly 11, when Bamboo entered the stage.

The most amazing thing is that the lady seated next to me and grace (seemingly older than I am) who appeared sedated the whole time, was on her feet and rocked with Bamboo's number like the rest of us. That's what Bamboo do to us. He lit the stage on fire for an hour but it felt like an eternity.
