Lyla, a favorite niece came over for a brief visit on her way home to Bugasong. She arrived Thursday and surprisingly was on the same tricycle as my cheesy burger henchman.

I have been a remiss hostess and left her with mom, dad and sis at daytime to catch up with the family gossip. To make up for my "negligence", I left work early yesterday and took the trip to Bacolod with the girls for dinner and some dessert. We tried some place I have never been to before, Cookies and Crumbs at the Circumferential Road. It's a small place (which reminds me greatly of Sans Rival) which display of a variety of sweets greeted us as we entered the softly lit interior. We took a table for four in the far end of the room (where we can get a lot of good pictures - my BB cam sucks :)
What better choice we had than having their bestsellers. Lyla and myself each had baby back ribs and KZ, seemingly not over with pesto yet, ordered a set meal of fried chicken, pesto pasta with lots of greens. I didn't know that my order came with a huge serving of rice (which I was not able to finish) that I had mac 'n cheese and mashed potatoes on the side. It was indulgence to say the least.

In order to shed some of the "guilt" off, we took the circumferential road on foot towards the New Government Center. It was my third to visit the place and first to go at night. It was even beautiful than what has been caught on video or stills. The night lights cast magic as it fell on the circular pond fed from a fountain set at its center. On the grounds were the health buffs throwing frisbee or running, kids playing, boys on bmx practicing their stunt, pairs seated on the bench eating or talking. The place rang with laughter to which we have contributed a lot.

When we had our fill, we walked back and looked for top-si-tur-b which unconventional mousse had me intrigued all week. For our gustatory experiment, I ordered Calamansi, Mango and Mocha Mousse. The star of the dessert selection was the Calamansi Mousse. The sweetness was just right and the citrus tang took away the queasiness associated with too much sweets. Well, nothing could go wrong with mango, it was a hit as well. After the two fruity varieties though, the mocha mousse seemed to be an understatement. Its saltiness seemed out of place I only had a tiny bite off it. I decided to have brewed coffee with the pretty wedges but it was dismal. KZ suggested to have the lemon grass tea instead. That was a good call.
The sad thing about wi-fi is that when we started to get hooked in it, speech eluded us and only got resumed when we finally took off to catch the last bus home.
