deadly confection

i looked up black sambo on the internet and tried to make one. the recipe called for:
milk layer:
1 cup water
2 sachet unflavored Knox Gelatin
1 big Carnation Condensed Milk
1 big can of Nestle All-Purpose Cream
chocolate layer:
1 cup water
2 sachet unflavored Knox Gelatin
1 big Evaporated Milk
1 cup plain chocolate
1 cup Sugar

Since it's just a trial run, I decided to use only one sachet of gelatin and cut all the other ingredients to 25%.


The result was:
Visual impact : 100%
Palatability : 25% (too sweet for comfort)

Recommendation: cut the condensed milk to half and replace it with cream or evaporated milk for the milk layer. for the choco layer, cut the sugar into half as well.
