i made a perfect omelette today for breakfast but was too hungry and devoured my beautiful creation before the thought of documenting it popped in my head. for the filling i sauteed minced garlic, onion, pork and julienned potatoes in a little butter and oil; seasoned with salt and pepper. into the scrambled egg, i put in a little cheese and a dash of dried basil leaves. i seldom make a perfect omelette and that quite made my day.

nipped at the bud...

...that's what it is. so much for planning and secrecy. nothing can be hidden for long. truth is bound to come out on it's own sweet time. it so happened that this truth came out a tad too soon and there's nothing else to blame but carelessness. suffice to say though that it's meant to be known in the first place and there's nothing malicious in it to get all so excited about. that it had fallen to the right hands made it all the more convenient. then, the need for an ugly (as assumed the outcome would be) discussion can be altogether laid aside.
what comes of it will tell if those who have ears really listen; and those who listened, really consider intelligently and fairly what they have heard (or in this case, read).
the resolve to find answers remain.
waiting can only be endured for so long.
if nobody would care...then why should one from the other side of the fence will?

5th thirsty cup...lear vs usc

grinding to a halt, managing to elude a nasty collision, and successfully taking possesion of the ball
snatching the ball from no. 11 seemed impossible but forcing it away from the field did the trick

trapping the ball, out of the way of the net

Boy, these kids in yellow and green are just half the age of this lady in red. To have all three of them huffing and puffing running for the ball is already a compliment. To be regarded, by somebody of their caliber (being in school varsity does mean something), worthy to guard not only gives this old heart a lift but a sense of accoplishment. That nothing is wasted in those months of weekday practice and occasional bruises, cramps and twisted ankles.

whoops! where did the ball go?

teeny weeny wonder, Robinson. getting past 4 guards all bigger than his size sure counts for something.

a first...

today not only marks the first day of the 3-day thirsty football festival or the fact that i was "caught looking at you-don't-who seated at you-don't-know-where" many times in one seating but also the beginning of the last of my coursework in grad school. i'm actually getting ready to attending my first class which is a first in my personal post-basic education history. well, that much i can do to show my appreciation for what last term has been and the fact that this term looks brighter even.

powerpuff girls

The original lucky seven was trimmed down to three (at a moment's notice) to complete the team of powerpuff girls who did justice to cafe laguna's (in ayala, cebu) offerings. Too hungry to care about the novelty of hanging out in a different environment, the food was gone before it was captured for posterity.

my first attempt at korean sushi (gim baph) using a 3x5 nori. apparently, more practice is in order. not only did the seaweed tear when the roll was cut in two. also, the filling (steamed kokuryo rice, fresh cucumber strips, and sauteed beef strips, and julliened cabbage and carrot in kimchee base paste) came out of the side while rolling the seaweed.
the nori needs some time to get used to though. the distinct smell could be bothersome.
some lunch it was...

making up for lost ops...

with lira and pats out for an official dinner with department guest (ralf dues in the flesh), i took the chance of flexing my knees in an intense game which we six girls (ping, miray, maddie, joan, cele and myself) fought teeth and nails against five boys (judah, novo, odie, jockoy and charles) and gained the advantage for most of the night's scrimmage. i played defense on the first half and forward for the rest of the scrimmage ending up with two long range goals, two with assists from cele and miray, one goal from a fast drive (from my defense post to the goal...santi-like, eh?) and a goal for the rival team from jockoy's goal kick
which i caught with crossed arms over my head :)
The pictures are from last week's, chronicling the fun we are having in preparation for next week's thirsty cup. The smiles belie week-old bruises, inevitable in an intense, fast paced game.

fare thee well...

until now, I didn’t know that writing a eulogy could be this difficult. it's been two weeks since that fateful day when news of a colleague's demise hit corporate grapevine. nothing has prepared everyone about wewet's hasty departure. only 37, it's sad to contemplate the fact of his unborn child never getting to know him, or his missing his daughter's graduation from grade school.

things that have come to pass, we can never bring back but these things will keep your memory:
1) brewed coffee
2) "beep, beep" bamboo revival
3) brandishing lavish encouragement for the soccer stardom wanabees
4) band gig invites
5) brigade activities

"With great power comes great responsibility.”

Great power aside, what comes with great responsibility?
Facing bigger responsibility is not an issue, given that the task spells something new and will challenge versatility. Tackling the same responsibility 200 percent the original volume is a different story though. Not only does it court disaster. It’s IT. And the repercussion should be a case for FMEA.

fun run

it's a tad late to be posting this but the novelty of the experience demands that it be published. most, if not all, of the lfc girls bought the fun run shirt (in preparation for this year's tourneys) but only pats, lira, maddie, rosa and myself went for the actual run and bumped into other lear personalities (henzbenz, gumarz, and a lot more). what made this day special was the fact that it was my first 5k run and i made it to the finish line and i did not finish last (well, last in our group though).
the run started in front of the PEZA office, then out onto the highway from gate 1, back in at gate 4 through Lear plants, left turn towards the airport runway, another turn before going back to the starting point. the slopes did me in to the point of slowing me down to a leisurely walk.

my finisher certificate

finishers all brandishing the well earned certificates

we stayed until the program ended hoping to receive one the fabulous prizes that were raffled off like timex watches, appliances, groceries. we got none of those but we didn't go home emptyhanded either. pat's won 4 PET bottles of Lipton Tea.
